Illy was founded in 1933 by Francesco Illy, a Hungarian who moved to Trieste at the end of the First World War with the dream of making the best coffee in the world. The first Illy coffee machine arrived in 1935 with the Illetta, equipped with pressurisation, a revolutionary preservation method that keeps intact the properties of the coffee and allows it to be exported even in distant countries.
Thanks to the digital sorting machine developed by Illycaffè, it becomes possible to analyse the colour and shape of the beans to ensure their perfection and thus obtain excellent coffee. With the birth of the Illy Iperespresso it is even easier to obtain a coffee with an intense aroma and a velvety consistency thanks to the two phases of infusion and emulsion.
